HEAVY POP presents...
DOWN AT THE ABBEY
The creators of the award-winning Are You Listening? Festival present their brand new music festival in the stunning Reading Abbey Ruins.
The first acts announced to perform are BC Camplight, The Wave Pictures, Tom Williams, Saltwater Sun and Ever Hazel, with many more acts still to be announced across two stages.
The award-winning Siren Craft Brew will be running the main Festival Bar and there will be various other pop-up bars and food stalls on site to keep everyone satisfied on the day.
READING ABBEY RUINS
King Henry I started the construction of Reading Abbey in 1121 and once built, the great royal abbey was one of the largest monasteries in Europe, housing monks and religious relics for some 400 years. In 1539, on the orders of King Henry VIII, Reading Abbey was destroyed, the monks were banished, and the Abbot was executed.
In recent years, the Grade 1 Listed ruins have undergone a £3 million renovation, re-opening to the public in June 2018. Heavy Pop are extremely excited to launch their brand new music event in the truly unique and historical space in the heart of Reading. Will you join us Down at the Abbey?
Stay tuned for further announcements.
Please note: This is an outdoor event. Event subject to license. Line-up subject to change. Proof of age ID may be required.
The Wave Pictures
Emerging West London based five-piece Saltwater Sun recently released their debut EP 'Wild' through London-based independent label Hand In Hive.
Earlier this year the band released their debut single Habit On My Mind, which was met with widespread acclaim across tastemaker blogs and press, including being heralded by NME as, “the soundtrack to summer evenings” and also sitting firmly in Hype Machine’s Top 10. This was followed by Making Eyes, produced by Gengahr album collaborator James Bragg, which “melted together sugary pop gorgeousness with grunge-flecked licks” (The Line Of Best Fit) and has already had support from BBC London and featured by Radio X as their Shock Of The New.
Produced by Saltwater Sun and Gengahr album collaborator James Bragg, Making Eyes and Habit On My Mind form two-thirds of their forthcoming debut EP Wild, which will drop this November alongside the title track.
Saltwater Sun are: Jennifer (vocals), Dan (guitar), Ben (drums), Rob (bass) and Joel (guitar)
